Visual Thinking

Below are examples of Visual Note Taking from my DAE-250 class on Human Development, Creativity and Visual Learning. Visual note-taking is a method of capturing ideas and information using organized notes and images. The process of taking the notes helps synthesize ideas and understanding of content, and also enhances recall in content- also known as dual coding theory. Drawing symbols, diagrams with quotes and personal reflections helps to refine ideas and understanding along and after reading. It improves comprehension and expression and is useful for engaging with students with different learning needs. In my reflections, I often connected the content with past and current experiences of being a student and a observer. I think going over how content relates gives me more insight on the connection to theory and the art classroom.
